The GoIslanders.com Athletes of the Week winner for this week is a member of the Islanders volleyball team. Freshman Logen Bourque has been named this week's winner. Bourque led the team in assists with 113 and was fourth in kills (17) and digs (19) while finishing third in blocks with seven total in the Northern Arizona Fiesta Bowl Tournament. She averaged 9.42 assists/set, 1.42 kills/set, 1.58 digs/set and 0.58 blocks/set during the weekend.

Corpus Christi women's golfer Liza Mucheru-Wisner will be taking part in the 2010 season of "The Apprentice" on NBC. The show, hosted by Donald Trump, gives contestants the opportunity to play for a position running one of Trump's companies and a $250,000 contract for one year.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball program announced that walk-on tryouts will be held on Saturday, Aug. 28. The tryout will take place from 2 - 4 p.m. on campus at Chapman Field and is open only to full-time students of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
